Metamodelling for geotechnical reliability analysis with noisy and incomplete models

چکیده

A kriging-based metamodelling approach for analysing the structural reliability of a sheetpile wall in dyke is formulated. This specific problem characterised by high target reliabilities (Pf∼10−7) combination with noisy and incomplete numerical model response. Starting from original formulation active learning Monte Carlo simulation (AK-MCS), robust two-stage metamodel framework formulated adaptive multiple importance sampling, Gaussian process classification kernel enhancements. Learning functions convergence criteria are revised to maintain consistency The developed applied analysis soil-structure interaction involving body, which representative class problems encountered engineering practice. Low dimensional example studies demonstrate workings give insight into Full probabilistic analyses then performed estimate probabilities failure updating context. results show that after several necessary enhancements classical formulations, approaches can be used successfully computational models as often geotechnical

Towards reliability-based design for geotechnical engineering

This paper presents an overview of the evolution in structural and geotechnical design practice over the past half a decade or so in relation to how uncertainties are dealt with. For the general reader who is encountering reliability-based design (RBD) for the first time, this would provide a valuable historical perspective of our present status and important outstanding issues that remain to b...

Stress-strength reliability models under incomplete information

A new approach to compute structural reliability is proposed. The novelty of the approach is that initial statistical information concerning the stress and strength of engineered structures is partial. Different numerous cases of state of knowledge about the stress and strength are analysed. A set of canonical analytical expressions for computing imprecise structural reliability has been obtain...

Fuzzy Reliability Optimization Models for Redundant Systems

In this paper, a special class of redundancy optimization problem with fuzzy random variables is presented. In this model, fuzzy random lifetimes are considered as basic parameters and the Er-expected of system lifetime is used as a major type of system performance. Then a redundancy optimization problem is formulated as a binary integer programming model. Furthermore, illustrative numerical ex...

Modified Bayesian Kriging for Noisy Response Problems for Reliability Analysis

This paper develops a new modified Bayesian Kriging (MBKG) surrogate modeling method for problems in which simulation analyses are inherently noisy and thus standard Kriging approaches fail to properly represent the responses. The purpose is to develop a method that can be used to carry out reliability analysis to predict probability of failure. The formulation of the MBKG surrogate modeling me...
